The Ythan Project took place from 2001 through to 2005 and was funded by the European LIFE environment fund. You can find out more about the project and download a copy of the final report by going to the project website.
The project involved the local community in restoring and enhancing the river Ythan and its surrounding catchment area. It included a lot of work with local farmers to help reduce the potential for agricultural activities to cause water pollution. It also involved a number of smaller river restoration actions, there which you can see marked on the map below.
